What's On?
We are now out-of-season and our next season of plays kicks off with readings and rehearsals in September, but until then work doesn't stop at Powys Theatre! Unlike many other amateur theatre groups, we own our own premises in Newtown and so during the summer we continue to meet up every Monday and Thursday night at 7:30pm and have plenty of things to do. This includes:
- Building maintenance and other tasks
- Play readings (typically taking place on Mondays)
- Workshops for members
- Preparing for our 75th Anniversary year
So if you would like to come along and help out please do so. Our Society is not just about the theatrical side - we do everything from sorting our costumes, performing repairs and modifications to the theatre building, painting & decorating, electrics, woodwork, etc. So if you have an interest in this side rather than or in addition to the theatrical side you're still more than welcome to come and help us out!

Thanks to everyone who helped make our 40th season at Powys Theatre a success. Reaching 40 seasons in is an achievement that we are very proud of and next year the society itself will be celebrating its 75th anniversary!
We opened the season with the excellent thriller Strictly Murder written by Brian Clemens, this was followed by The Odd Couple by Neil Simon and finally Your Obedient Servant by Diana Morgan and produced by Martin Jones.
Our Previous Productions
The third and final play of our 40th season at Powys Theatre was Your Obedient Servant by Diana Morgan performed between the 27th April and 2nd May. Thank you to everyone who attended - we hope you enjoyed it! See here for more information and view pictures from the play.
The second play of our 40th season at Powys Theatre was The Odd Couple performed between the 9th and 14th February. Thank you to everyone who attended - we hope you enjoyed it! Our next play will be on the 27th April 2009.
